Fans react, express divergent views over Maria’s eviction

Three housemates: JMK, Sammie and Maria have been evicted from the Big Brother Naija house during the eviction show on Sunday.

The three housemates were nominated for possible eviction last week, and sadly, their fans could not just garner enough votes for them.

Six housemates: Maria, JMK, Pere, Sammie, Cross and Queen were nominated for eviction on Sunday

JMK was the first housemate to exit the house on Sunday night. Later on, Ebuka announced that Sammie’s journey had come to an end.

Shortly after, Ebuka shocked the viewers of BBNaija Season 6 when he announced the eviction of Maria.

Before her eviction, JMK was part of some BBNaija housemates who were issued a strike. She was issued the strike together with Maria, and Pere.

This comes after these housemates were found guilty of several microphone infringements in the course of their stay in the BBNaija Shine Ya Eye house.

Pere, Maria and JMK were issued their first strikes for this infringement, meaning that they are now left with two strikes and if they are found guilty two more times, they will be disqualified.

They are also barred from all head of house privileges for two weeks. This indicates that no head of house can save them using the veto power and they will also have no access to head of house lounge within this period.

The other housemates were also given some light punishment for being guilty of several infringements.

In the Big Brother house, the housemates are not permitted to damage their respective microphones. They are also forbidden from whispering in the BBNaija house as every word they say in the house must be audible for the audience and patrons of the show to hear.

In previous seasons, many housemates have been issued strikes and subsequently disqualified over microphone infringements.

In her reaction, beautifully dressed Maria said her eviction was “surprising and unfortunate”.

“It’s unfortunate that I have been evicted. I thank you all for your phenomenal support. Thank you,” she said after her eviction.

Maria was the third housemate to be evicted from the reality show on Sunday.

On entering the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ edition, Maria was identified as a wildcard alongside Pere.

Reacting to Maria’s eviction, Toke Makinwa @tokstarr said, “Maria did so well, gave us so much to talk about, she worked so hard and it’s sad to see her leave early. Not worried though, Nollywood awaits.”

Meanwhile, some fans of Angel and Whitemoney have claimed in the social media that Maria’s hate for their two favourites housemates killed her game.

Stressing that Maria gossip against Angel played a big role in her early exit from the show, the fans also claimed that they ganged up to vote for Cross and Queen.

One of the fans said, “Maria’s hate for Whitemoney and Angel killed her game, you might have a strong fanbase but be careful how you treat other people.”

@Delwynaji said, “We Marians will always be for Maria alone #BBNaija.”

Dr. Dípò Awójídé @OgbeniDipo added, “If her agency gets it right, Maria can still be the winner that didn’t win #BBNaija like Nengi, Tacha and Erica. She’s got what brands are looking for. Position well. Cash out.”

@ogakelly said, “They really wanted Maria out of the show and they did that the first chance they got. Deliberately denied her immunity this week even when she deserved it. Decided to give her the reward the night she was leaving. It was targeted and it’s fine. Maria is going to be okay.”

@LiamZeeland said, “Maria’s exit proves that social media noise doesn’t mean anything when votes come to play. It shocks me.”

Meanwhile,  her love interest in the house, Pere, breaks down in tears as Maria gets evicted.

Reacting to the eviction, Pere broke down in tears after the live show.

Pere and Maria liked each other in the house although Maria turned down his proposal for a relationship.
