A Nobel Peace prize laureate and anti-apartheid activist, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, is dead.

Aged 90, Tutu’s passage was confirmed by the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

The late Tutu would be remembered for his activism and heroic activities with other notable personalities to end apartheid rule in South Africa.

Confirming the death of Tutu in a statement, Ramaphosa said: “Another chapter of bereavement in our nation’s farewell to a generation of outstanding South Africans who have bequeathed us a liberated South Africa.”
