The Focal Person of the State Electronic Management of Immunization Data (EMID), Mr Suleiman Ahmed, has disclosed that about 179,343 persons have been vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines
Ahmed stated this on Monday at a one day USAID-Breakthrough sponsored media orientation workshop on COVID-19 Mass Vaccine Campaign in Sokoto.
Giving overview on the situation analysis of COVID-19 vaccination in Sokoto, the EMID Focal Person said more males are taken the vaccine compared to women in the state.
He further stated that Sokoto State has so far received 108,413 doses of Astrazeneca, 38,318 doses of Moderna and 32,613 doses of Pfizer.
Noting that every platform counts and should be used to tell the people about COVID-19 reality, Mr Eze Eze of the Breakthrough Action Nigeria (BA-N) said the media must be valued at all times, saying that the media practitioners help to ensure the critical role of informing, educating, entertaining and enlightening the populace.
Eze said, “The media can effectively, quickly and perhaps cheaply promote a good idea, a cause or a programme or can just easily kill it”.
Speaking on, “The Role Of The Media In Implementation of COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Campaign, Eze said that it is regrettable that there is still a disturbing degree of hesitancy of COVID-19 vaccination in Nigeria despite its availability.
Eze further imagined why should people be in the hesitancy circle over misconceptions about COVID-19 vaccines without any scientifically proven reasons.
He also appealed to media practitioners to also be careful and tackle infodemic by striving to equip themselves with facts about COVID-19 as much as possible to stop misconceptions, rumours and false information.
