The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, held a crucial meeting with the United States Department led by Molly Phee, Assistant Secretary for Bureau of African Affairs.
Atiku and other prominent members of the party are currently in the US for constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders on the way forward.

It was further gathered that the focus of the discussions centered on the need to seek collaborative solutions to Nigeria’s local issues of democracy, good governance, deteriorating security and the economy.
A top PDP chieftain who sought anonymity and also attended the meeting, told TheIdeal that, “ Most importantly, we secured commitments to support for free and fair elections in Nigeria, an announcement of a sanction policy before the elections to deter anti-democratic forces and commitments for continued partnership with Nigeria in areas of security and development.”
