The Senate on Monday commenced the screening of the first batch of 28 ministerial nominees forwarded to it by President Bola Tinubu.
But the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly was only able to screen 14 out of the 28 ministerial nominees.
Incidentally, some nominees who were former members of the Senate and that of the House of Representatives were asked to take a bow and go in line with the National Assembly tradition while some others were thoroughly scrutinized by the federal lawmakers.
The screening commenced at the Senate during a plenary session that started at about 12:41 pm, following the arrival of Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Among those screened were former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; Senator Abubakar Kyari (Borno State); Hon Nkiruka Onyejeocha (Abia State); Bello Muhammad (Sokoto State); Sani Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State) and former Jigawa State Governor Badaru Abubakar.
Others are Joseph Utsev (Benue State), Hon Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (Ondo State), Dr Betta Edu (Cross River State), Uju Kennedy Ohaneye (Anambra State), Abubakar Momoh (Edo State), Senator John Enoh (Cross River State), Iman Suleiman Ibrahim (Nasarawa State), and Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (Bauchi State).
Nominees who were former senators and members of the House of Representatives were asked to take a bow and excused while several others were scrutinised by the senators.
After the senators were screened, the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved a motion for the Senate to revert to plenary to report progress. The Senate Minority Leader, Darlington Nwokocha, seconded the motion and it was carried.
The Senate President thereafter adjourned the plenary till Tuesday.
