In a bid to reposition the entertainment industry and protect the rights of artists, the House of Representatives has expressed readiness to amend copyright laws in the country.

The decision followed the adoption of a motion under matters of urgent importance sponsored by Mr Babajimi Benson, representing the Ikorodu federal constituency of Lagos State.

In effect, Speaker Tajudeen Abass mandated the House committees on justice and youths to ensure compliance.

The House also resolved to monitor the ongoing investigation aimed at unravelling the circumstances that led to the demise of Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad.

Benson stressed the need for the House to collaborate with stakeholders in the entertainment industry to achieve the goal.

He also called for an enabling law that would ensure artists are adequately protected and compensated.
