Supreme Court, on Thursday, reserved its judgment in the appeal filed by the Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, challenging his removal from office by the Court of Appeal.
A five-member panel of the apex court, led by a Justice of Supreme Court (JSC), Justice Inyang Okoro, reserved the matter for judgement after the parties adopted their briefs of argument.
Governor Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is asking the apex court to affirm his election and nullify the judgement of the Court of Appeal which removed him from office declared Dr Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Kano State Governor.
After listening to arguments by the lawyers to the two parties: Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) for Governor Yusuf, Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN) for the APC and Gawuna, the Supreme Court reserved its verdict, saying that the date of its judgment would be communicated to both parties in due course.
