Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has extended olive branch to his closest challenger, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo and other opposition parties, following the affirmation of his victory by the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

The Tribunal had on Wednesday after a thorough examination of the three petitions brought by the opposition parties, the Action Alliance (AA), the Accord Party (AP) and the PDP, dismissed their petitions. The Tribunal also confirmed that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act, saying that Governor Okpebholo was duly elected as Edo Governor.

Reacting to the tribunal’s judgement, Governor Okpebholo stated that the verdict has validated the overwhelming support demonstrated by the citizens and residents of Edo State during his election, saying that the development also reaffirmed the integrity of the democratic process and stands as a testament to the will of the people.

Okpebholo also expressed his profound gratitude to the Tribunal for its diligence and fairness and extended his sincere appreciation to the people of Edo State for their unwavering support and belief in his vision for a prosperous and united state.

He said, “This victory is not mine alone, but a victory for every citizen and resident of Edo State. It is a mandate to continue the work we have started, to build a state where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We remain committed to our promise of good governance, transparency, and inclusive development.”

The Edo Governor further called on all citizens, including the opposition and Ighodalo to join hands in the spirit of unity and work together for the progress of Edo State, saying that it is time to put aside partisan differences and focus on the common goal of building a better future for the state.

Okpebholo added that his administration remains focused on delivering on its campaign promises and will not be distracted by frivolous litigation, saying that the administration is committed to serving the people of Edo State with dedication and integrity.
