Pop superstar Davido has shown his support for the Super Eagles ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 by betting $25,000 (about N36 million) on Nigeria’s opening Group C match against Tanzania.
The Afrobeats star shared a photo of his betting slip on X, indicating he wagered on both teams to score, with a potential payout of $96,564 (roughly N140 million).
This is not Davido’s first high-stakes backing of Nigeria. Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off against Gabon, he staked $10,000 (₦15 million) on a Nigerian win and both teams to score, though the Super Eagles lost that match.
Nigeria, three-time African champions, will face Tanzania at the Complex Sportif de Fes in Morocco on Tuesday, December 23.
Ranked 38th in the world, Nigeria go into the game as favourites against Tanzania, who sit 112th on FIFA’s rankings.
