*As aide debunks pregnant rumour

Nigerian First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has ordered all staff in the First Lady’s office to proceed on leave until further notice.

In a terse statement posted on Aisha Buhari’s official Instagram handle (@aishambuhari), official engagements will continue virtually.

The statement was signed by Senior Special Assistant to the Office of the First Lady on Health and Development Partners, Mohammed Kamal.

The statement reads in part, “This serves to inform all staff that the office of the First Lady will be closed for the upcoming festive period of Christmas and New Year

“To this end, all staff are requested to proceed on leave, until further notice

“Please note that official engagements and work can also continue virtually as it was done previously.”

Meanwhile, some photographs of Mrs Buhari have recently surfaced on certain social media platforms on her return from Turkey-Africa Summit, insinuating that she may be pregnant.

But debunking the pregnant rumour in his reaction on the matter, one of the aides to First Lady, Mr Sulaiman Haruna, said the story was false, insisting that Mrs Buhari is hale and hearty and not pregnant.

In a chat with BBC Pidgin, Haruna said, “I can assure you 100 per cent that our First Lady is perfectly okay. She is neither sick nor pregnant as some reports claim.

“Some of these reports are from mischief-makers who don’t mean well. You know, nowadays, people can tamper with photos.”
