An Anambra State High Court in Awka  has reinstated Prof. Charles Soludo as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election on November 6.

Delivering his judgement on Monday, Justice C.C Okaa ruled in support of the application before her, recognising Victor Ike-Oye as the National Chairman of the APGA.

The judge also upheld the June 23rd APGA primaries that produced Prof Soludo as the candidate of the party for the November 6, Anambra State Governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on July 6 published the name of Chukwuma Umeoji as candidate of the APGA  and recognised Jude Okeke-led faction of the party.

The commission had claimed that it  acted on the resolution it had in the meeting it held on July 15, 2021, to consider list/personal particular of candidates nominated by various political parties for the Anambra Governorship election.

The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, also disclosed that  the decision to drop Soludo and others was based on obedience to court orders, served on INEC in relation to the primaries of the political parties and other processes leading to the election.

Prior to the primary elections, APGA had been locked in a leadership crisis with two factions claiming supremacy on the party.
