The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday, affirmed the election of Abdullahi Sule as Nasarawa Governor.
In a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of justices, appellate court nullified the verdict of the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which sacked Governor Sule, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Sule as winner of the election with 347,209 votes, saying that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), David Ombugadu came second with 283,016 votes.
Dissatisfied with INEC’s results, the PDP approached the tribunal for redress, citing alleged irregularities.
It is instructive to note that the tribunal had on October 2, nullified Sule’s victory and declared Ombugadu as winner of the poll.
Details shortly.
