IPOB

Irked by destruction claims, the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday warned that there are no more sit-at-home orders after September 14th and denied involvement in the disruption of examination in Imo State.

TheIdeal reports that scores of students at the Comprehensive secondary school Nkume and Atta in the Njaba local government area of Imo State were on Monday stopped from writing their English examination by some yet to be identified men.

The incidence attracted a backlash from Nigerians, prompting the group to issue a statement denying its involvement.

This is even as the group has disclosed plans to set up taxforce to checkmate the excesses of supposed members perpetrating violence against Igbos.

The clarification was made by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful in a statement.

According to him, anyone trying to enforce the suspended Mondays sit-at-home is a saboturer and if caught will be dealt with adding that the supposed enforcers are working with enemies to disrepute IPOB, which will not be tolerated.

Powerful said “IPOB is a responsible organization with reasoning and empathy. We cannot be part of the problem we are trying to solve. We cannot join the enemies to compound the woes of our people we are fighting to liberate. That was why we suspended the ghost Mondays that we earlier declared because of the economic implications to our people. We listened to appeals by the people and reviewed our stance on the matter then. That was why we reduced the sit-at-home protests to the days our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be making appearances in court. That is enough for now and we stand by it”.

The IPOB spokesperson condemned what he described as barbaric, the disruption of examination in Imo State by those he described as “hoodlums and mentally deranged fellows who disrupted a WAEC exam in a school in Imo State on Monday. What a stupid madness! Whoever was behind such barbarity must be made to pay for their actions”.

Meanwhile the IPOB has pledged to replace the burnt motorbikes and rebuild the school blocks burnt by hoodlums in the name of ESN and IPOB volunteers, this according to Powerful “is not to portray or indicate that IPOB committed the heinous crimes against our people”.
