As high wire politics begins  for the 2023 political race, Sagir Dalhatu Bafarawa, son of former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, has indicated his interest in succeeding Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

Sagir Bafarawa, who recently resigned his appointment as the Sokoto State Commissioner for Environment, stated  that he is the perfect man for the number one job in the state.

Making his intent known to PDP stakeholders at the  party headquarters in  the metropolis, Sagir Bafarawa said, “The evidences are clear that Governor Aminu  Tambuwal has performed creditably well in Sokoto State l as witnessed in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, as well as human capital development and lots more”.

Continuing, Bafarawa said, “Our enviable Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has laid the foundation for a workable State”.

Giving reasons for his intention to govern Sokoto State in  2023, Bafarawa said, “My government will continue from where Governor Tambuwal will stop by giving priority to agriculture, security, economic well-being and wellfare of our people.

“All these and many more are achievable hence Sokoto has tremendous capacity”, Bafarawa added.

Responding to Sagir Bafarawa’s intent, the Chairman of the State PDP Chapter, Bello Goronyo, stated that Bafarawa is the first person to have publicly presented himself before the state executives, seeking to contest for governorship election in 2023.

Goronyo also disclosed that former Minister of Water Resources and deputy governor,  Muthari Shagari had equally indicated his interest via a letter but yet to make it formal.

He said, “As you are all aware, scheming for the 2023 general elections has begun and based on the submission of  Sagir Dalhatu Bafarawa today, the State PDP has granted him permission to visit and solicit support from all and sundry”.
