About 25 school girls have reportedly been abducted after armed bandits in large numbers, wielding sophisticated weapons, stormed Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga under Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Sunday night.
It was further gathered that the bandits killed the school’s vice principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, while trying to protect the students from the attackers.
Several unidentified bodies were seen in the school premises, plunging the school and surrounding communities into fear and grief.
“They came in mass numbers at night, began shooting sporadically before they got access to the school,” a source confirmed the attack, describing the assault as devastating and traumatic for the community.
- He added that air force jets were seen loitering over the sky on Monday by 8 am after the attack and the area was cordoned off by heavily armed security personnel.
Confirming the sad incident, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the Spokesman for Kebbi Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said that a tactical team has been raised to begin rescue operations of the abducted students.
He added that efforts are being intensified to ensure no student in captivity gets hurt by the bandits, saying that the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, is poised to bring an end to the menace.
