President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr Ola Olukoyede, as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Spokesman to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed this in a statement made available to TheIdeal News on Thursday.
Ngelale added that Olukoyede’s appointment was sequel to the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.
According to him, Olukoyede’s appointment is for a renewable term of four years in the first instance, pending his confirmation by the Senate.
The presidential spokesman also stated that Olukoyede is a lawyer with over 22 years of experience, saying that he is a regulatory compliance consultant and specialist in fraud management and corporate intelligence.
He also said that Olukoyede has acquired extensive experience in the operations of the anti-graft agency, having previously served as the Chief of Staff to the former Acting Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, between 2016 and 2018.
Olukoyede later became the Secretary to the Commission and served between 2018 and 2020.
TheIdeal News recalls that Olukoyede was born in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on October 14, 1969.
The new EFCC boss had his university education at the Lagos State University; University of Lagos; Institute of Arbitration ICC – Paris, France and University of Harvard (Kennedy School of Executive Education).
Olukoyede also worked at the law firm of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo before joining the EFCC.
The erudite lawyer is a member of the Fraud Advisory Panel (UK) and also a member, Federal Government Technical Committee on the Repositioning of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.
He also specialises in Anti-Corruption Research and Analysis, Corporate and Business Intelligence Gathering and Process.
He is a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of Refuge, Lagos Province 12, Shasha , Lagos.
It also instructive to note that President Tinubu has appointed Mr Muhammad Hammajoda as the Secretary to the Commission for a renewable term of five years in the first instance, pending Senate’s confirmation.

Hammajoda is the current Director of Finance and Accounts (DFA) of the EFCC before his appointment as Secretary to the Commission.
The new EFCC scribe is a public administrator with extensive experience in public finance management.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Masters in Business Administration from the same university.
He began his career as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, and from there, he went into banking, including successful stints at the defunct Allied Bank and Standard Trust Bank.
