The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday night arrested immediate former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
The EFCC operatives were said to have arrested Obiano at MMIA at about 8.30pm.
Incidentally, Obiano has just handed over to new Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, couple of hours ago at the Government House in Awka.
Obiano was said to be on his way to Texas, United States when the EFCC operatives intercepted him at the Lagos Airport.
Theideal recalls that that his wife, Ebelechukwu, was in the news earlier on Thursday, following her infamous altercation with Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, wife of a former Biafran warlord, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu.
It was further gathered that Obiano has been on the EFCC’s radar, following his alleged involvement in fraud and embezzlement.
When contacted, a top official of the EFCC confirmed the development.
He however declined to give details of Obiano’s arrest at press time.
