The Supreme Court on Monday affirmed the election of Hyacinth Alia as duly elected Benue State Governor and dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in the Benue governorship election, Titus Uba.
It is important to note that the governorship election petitions tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Abuja had affirmed the election of Governor Alia.
Dissatisfied with the judgments, Uba approached the apex court for redress.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared Alia of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of the state’s governorship election in March 2023.
