*Says Nigerian women stand with Aisha Buhari in moment of her grief

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday led an influential all-female delegation to Daura, Katsina State, on a condolence visit to her predecessor, Mrs Aisha Buhari, following the death of her husband and former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Describing the late president as “a symbol of integrity, discipline, and devotion to Nigeria,” the First Lady said the visit was not only personal but a national expression of sympathy, especially from Nigerian women.

She said, “I came to Daura with the wives of top government officials to condole with our dear sister, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari, over the loss of her beloved husband, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“This visit is not just personal; it is a collective expression of sympathy from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the women of the nation. Nigeria’s women stand firmly with Aisha Buhari in this moment of grief.”

The First Lady was joined by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbas; wife of the Deputy Senate President, Hajia Laila Barau; as well as wives of state governors, ministers, service chiefs, and other prominent women across Nigeria.

She also lauded the legacy of the late president, noting that Buhari’s life was defined by selfless service and commitment to the wellbeing of ordinary Nigerians.

Mrs Tinubu said, “He was not just a former president; he was a statesman whose memory will remain evergreen in the history of our nation. He served with honour both as a military leader and a democratically elected president.”

The First Lady further prayed for the repose of the former president’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and to strengthen his widow, family, and all who mourn him. The delegation later signed the condolence register and spent quiet moments with the grieving family at the Buhari residence in Daura.
