President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred the prestigious National Honour of the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) on a legal luminary and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN).

Ozekhome, already a recipient of the National honour of the Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR), will be conferred with the National honour alongside other eminent Nigerians at a ceremony slated for November 11 2022, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

A public analysts and a lawyer, Bar O Banjo, also spoke on the national award to Ozekhome, saying that the national award of CON is one of the highest in the land.

He added that the award is certainly a well deserved recognition of and befitting reward for Ozekhome’s patriotism, pan-Nigerianess, industry and consistency.

He said, “ Ozekhome has been consistent in speaking truth to authority, challenging impunity; and fiercely advocating and defending the rule of law, good governance and the fundamental rights of the voiceless, oppressed, repressed and marginalized Nigerian citizens.”
