Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari, paid a dowry of N500,000 for his newly wedded wife,  Zahra Bayero, daughter of the Emir of Bichi.

Yusuf tied the knot with Zahra Bayero, daughter of the Emir of Bichi on Friday afternoon in Kano in a well attended ceremony.

The marriage ceremony took place at the palace of the Emir of Bichi, where the Fatiha was also staged.

According to BBC Hausa, the dowry paid for Zahra is N500,000.

The wedding was attended by a deluge of prominent figures including the president and Yemi Osinbajo, vice-president; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Former Niger President Mahamadou Isoufou and Former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Members of Buhari’s delegation included Bashir Magashi, minister of defense; Sabo Nanono, minister of agriculture; Hadi Sirika, minister for aviation; and Suleiman Hussein Adamu, minister for water resources.

Garba Shehu, Buhari’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, also said members of the delegation would stay back after the wedding to represent the president at the coronation of the emir at Bichi the next day.

In March, Yusuf’s family members had visited the family of Ado Bayero to seek the marriage of Zahra.

The lovebirds were said to have met each other in the United Kingdom where the president’s son finished his undergraduate studies.

Zahra is a graduate of architecture from Brighton University in the UK.
