Former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has won the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State.
The former Air Chief polled 370 votes to clinch the party’s ticket during the exercise in Bauchi on Thursday.
Senator Halliru Dauda Jika (APC Bauchi Central), polled 278 votes to place second while other governorship hopefuls such as Nura Manu got 269 votes, Musa Babayo had 70 votes and Mahmud Maijama’a secured eight votes.
Abubakar was the chief of air staff between 2015 and January 2021 when President Muhammadu Buhari replaced him and other service chiefs.
Buhari later appointed him as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Chad while he later resigned his appointment to contest the primary election.
