A civil society organisation , the Competent Governance For Accountability and Civic Trust, has dismissed the reports of alleged corruption levelled against the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc Sonny Echono, saying that the allegation is baseless and unfounded.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Amb. Adebayo Omoba and made available to journalists on Monday. Omoba added that the allegation is not only false but aimed at tarnishing the good image and meritorious service of Echono.

He said owing to his vast knowledge in the Nigeria Education sector, having served as Permanent secretary In the Federal Ministry of Education for six years and also retired at the place, prior to his appointment to TETFUND, Echono has instilled a standing and verifiable tradition of prudent management of resources since assumption into office.

According to Omoba, TETFund under the watch of Echono has witnesses stellar and remarkable achievements.

He disclosed that after verification and fact finding, the group “discovered cheap blackmail against a performing patriot and seasoned administrator who has dedicated his goodwill support for public service.

Omoba further said that Echono ought to be commended and rewarded for a job well done so far under his leadership in the growth of the Nigerian education sector at the helm of affairs as TETFund boss rather than tarnishing his impeccable character built over the years.

The statement reads in part, “This is a deliberate attempt to misinform the general public without facts to prove this baseless allegation to misinform Nigerians.

“TETFund requires someone with the requisite exposure, network and experience to turnaround the fortunes of the nation’s education trust fund which the present leadership is demonstrating in line with the renewed hope geared towards growing the economy, so as to sustain the revenue base of the nation’s treasury.”
