According to Ejibunu at a news briefing at the Customs Training College in Ikeja, Lagos State on December 21, 2024, 15,325 litres of seized petrol will be auctioned to the public to ease transportation hardship during the festive season.

He said the auction followed the recent seizure of 613 Jerrycans of PMS with a Duty Paid Value of N27.565 million by operatives in the Lagos-Ogun axis, adding that the Controller General of Customs, CGC Adewale Adeniyi, has approved the sales.

He said: “This operation has been on since 27 May, 2024 and has yielded positive results as the CGC has urged the operatives to continue sustaining the tempo until the activities of this economic saboteurs are stamped out of this country.”

The Coordinator said the directive to sell the petrol by Adeniyi followed a court condemnation order and with all legal processes finalised by the office of the Legal Adviser.

Ejibunu added: “On this note, the CGC has directed for auctions of the seized product to members of the public at the rate of N10,000 per 25 litres.
