Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi, will be sentenced in October 2021, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.

The Instagram celebrity was said to have scammed  1.9 million victims to the tune N168billion.

Thom Mrozek, the court’s Director of Media Relations, confirmed the development to journalists  on Friday.

Theideal recalls that Hushpuppi has pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including online fraud and money laundering.

Mrozek  also disclosed  that Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari had been ordered by the FBI to be arrested for his alleged role in a $1 million scam allegedly committed by Hushpuppi and five others.

“A U.S. Magistrate Judge has issued arrest warrants for the defendants in the case, including Mr Kyari. This is standard operating procedure in nearly all of the criminal cases filed by this office.

“Hushpuppi is currently scheduled to be sentenced in late October,” Mrozek added.

But  the court official did not specify whether Kyari must appear in court alongside Hushpuppi by the end of October.

Hushpuppi was arrested in the UAE in June 2020 alongside 11 of his associates following their alleged involvement in hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud, and identity theft.

He was later extradited  to the US while the UAE police detailed his arrest in a special operation dubbed ‘Fox Hunt 2’ where he was accused of defrauding 1.9 million victims to the tune of N168 billion.

But Hushpuppi has recently pleaded guilty to the money laundering charges against him just as he faces 20 years imprisonment if found guilty of the charge preferred against him.
