Nigerian music star Davido has unfollowed popular actress and activist Iyabo Ojo on Instagram following a leaked WhatsApp conversation in which she allegedly accused him of chasing clout over his support for the late singer, Mohbad.

The controversy erupted after controversial social media activist Vincent Martins Otse aka VeryDarkMan released screenshots of a private group chat where Iyabo Ojo allegedly questioned the sincerity of Davido’s actions during the “Justice for Mohbad” movement.

In the chat, Iyabo reportedly expressed disappointment that Davido continued to follow Naira Marley who was accused by some of having ties to Mohbad’s struggles despite publicly supporting Mohbad’s cause.

“That means he was chasing clout… I’m so disappointed… fake love 001,” Iyabo was quoted as saying in the leaked message.

The remarks quickly went viral, sparking outrage among fans and stirring division among netizens.

In what appears to be a direct response, Davido unfollowed the actress on Instagram. Iyabo, however, still followed the singer as at press time.

Uptil this evening, both Davido and Iyabo Ojo have remained silent on the unfollowing and the leaked conversation palava offering no official statements or public reactions.

The development has fueled further drama in the ongoing feud involving Iyabo Ojo, VeryDarkMan, and others in the public eye who have taken different positions on how best to honour Mohbad’s memory and demand accountability for his tragic death.

The late Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, died in controversial circumstances in 2023, sparking protests and calls for justice. Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley and his colleague Sam Larry got a clean bill of health from the court. The Judge said there’s no prima facie evidence to link them to the demise of Mohbad.

Many celebrities, including Davido and Iyabo, had shown support for the movement demanding a thorough investigation into his death.
