The Department of State Service (DSS), on Wednesday night, released the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, after spending about 134 days in its custody.

Bawa was arrested by the DSS operatives on June 14, shortly after his suspension from office as EFCC Chairman by President Bola Tinubu over alleged abuse of office.

But since his arrest and detention, the DSS did not formally prefer any charge against him or say his specific offence.

Incidentally, a trending video on Wednesday night appear to show that Bawa has been released from detention and reunited with family members and friends. He was also seen in the video jubilating with his family members after his release.

The DSS later confirmed Bawa’s release in its X page ( formerly known as Twitter), saying that the former EFCC boss was released from detention on Wednesday night.
