A senior lawyer and human rights activist, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), has urged the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to rescind her decision to hold a conference in Sokoto over the gruesome death of Miss Deborah Samuel.
The Senior Advocate is also asking the NBA to shift the location of the NBA-SPIDEL conference to another Northern state.
He said, “I humbly urge NBA-SPIDEL not to hold any meeting or conference in Sokoto State where a Nigerian citizen has been brutally murdered and burnt to death.
“It is barbaric and lawyers should not be seen dancing on her grave in that state.
“We should make a statement to the government by canceling the Conference and hold it in a neighboring state in the North.”
Theideal recalls that that the female NCE student was set ablaze and burnt to death on Thursday by her fellow students for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Sokoto State police command later arrested two  suspects over their involvement in the dastardly act.
But certain groups organized a violent protest and demanded for the release of the suspects.
The development prompted Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal to swiftly impose a curfew in Sokoto metropolis.
The police consequently arraigned the suspects in court.
