The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr AbdulRasheed Bawa, has explained what transpired during his goodwill message at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday, saying that he had a dizzy spell midway through his speech.

TheIdeal recalls that Bawa suddenly stopped his remarks during the event organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) at the presidential villa, Abuja.

But in his reaction to the incident while speaking on a Channels Television programme, “Politics Today”, Bawa stated that his doctors informed him that the dizziness was sequel to the fact that he was dehydrated.

He said, “While giving my goodwill message during the programme organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), there was a sort of dizziness on me and I had to excuse myself from the stage.

“And of course I went straight to the hospital where the doctors confirmed to me that everything about me is okay except for the fact that I’m a bit dehydrated and need to take a lot of water.

“Straight away from the hospital, I went back to the office and now I’m back at home.”

The EFCC boss also spoke on the decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop the sale of foreign exchange (FX) to bureau de change (BDCs) operators in the country.

He said, “It is a laudable policy that we are working with the Central Bank of Nigeria with open arms, nobody stops the operations of BDC in this country.

“The policy is about stopping the giving of cash to BDC, and that monies that hitherto are being given to the BDC are now going to be given to financial institutions for them to distribute to those Nigerians that are in need of them.”
