The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed that the registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will close on March 8, 2025, with no plans for an extension.

JAMB initially set the registration period to begin on January 31 and later adjusted it to February 3.

The deadline was also moved from March 5 to March 8, as reflected in the board’s official advertisements and examination calendar.

In a statement made available on Tuesday by JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the examination body urged prospective candidates to complete their registration early, noting a decline in registration numbers.

“So far, over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered, aligning with our projections for the 2025 examination cycle,” Benjamin said.

He warned that waiting until the last minute could lead to missing out on the exam, as the board’s schedule remains fixed.

“Extending the registration deadline would disrupt subsequent activities such as the examination, results processing, and admissions exercise, which are all coordinated with other agencies,” he added.

JAMB also confirmed that its mock UTME will be held on April 5, while the main UTME is scheduled to take place between April 25 and May 5.

For Direct Entry (DE) candidates, the sale of application documents will commence on March 10 and end on April 7.

JAMB further reiterated its commitment to maintaining its academic calendar and advised all candidates to ensure timely registration.
