In what can be regarded as complete overhaul of critical institutions, President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, Advisers, Comptroller-General of Customs from Service as well as their replacements with immediate effect.

The development signified the end of service of former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Lucky Irabor- led service chiefs and the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba.

The President also appointed the  former pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Nuhu Ribadu and a Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Mr Kayode Egbedokun, as the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The development was disclosed in a statement made available to TheIdeal News on Monday night by the Director, Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Willie Bassey.

Bassey further disclosed that the service chiefs, IGP and Customs boss will function in acting capacities until their necessary confirmation.

He said, “It is to be noted that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Comptroller General of Customs are to act in their positions, pending their confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
