The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal as the winner of the Sokoto South Senatorial District election.
Governor Tambuwal, who contested of the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been returned to the National Assembly as member of the 10th Senate.
Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, won the senatorial seat with 100, 860 votes to defeat the incumbent Senator Abdullahi Ibrahim Danbaba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 95, 884 votes.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer (RO) for the supplementary elections , Prof. Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo, said, “Aminu Tambuwal, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared as winner and returned elected.”
