Unknown gunmen, on Thursday evening, invaded Koro town in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing the traditional ruler, Oba Segun Aremu-Cole.
It was further gathered that the gunmen stormed the palace of the monarch at about 7 pm and reportedly fired gunshots which hit the traditional ruler.
The wife of the monarch was also said to have been abducted by the assailants.
It is important to note that Koro Ekiti shares boundary with Egbe, in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The development is coming a few days after gunmen killed two traditional rulers in Ekiti State.
The duo – Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area and Elesun of Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, were attacked by the gunmen while returning from a meeting.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, has confirmed the attack in a statement made available last night , saying that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has condemned the killing of the monarch.
