The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill AKpabio, has narrated how embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan walked the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, out during the 2025 budget defence despite pleas by other women senators.
According to the president of the Senate, the representative of Kogi Central Senatorial District claimed that the Minister disrespected her.
Akpabio, who made this known while speaking on the International Women’s Day, said despite the pleas of fellow female senators to allow the Minister present the budget, Akpoti-Uduaghan was adamant.
He added that the Minister called him to explain what transpired to him during the budget defence, he said he told her that was not the position of the Senate.
In his words: “It was a female senator who walked her (Minister of Women Affairs) out.
“Her fellow female colleagues pleaded with the female senator.
“She insisted that the woman will not present the budget.
“The woman that walked her out on that day was Senator Natasha.
“Your attitude determines your altitude.
“Women must arise above pettiness.
“Women should not always weaponise their gender.
“The issue happened after I changed her seat and the change of committee from 8th of December, 2023.
“I never heard the issue of sexual harassment until her committee was changed.”
