Kanu

The Supreme Court has fixed September 14 for the hearing of the appeal, seeking the immediate release of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, from detention.

Kanu is currently in custody of the Department of State Service (DSS) despite the judgement of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which quashed the 15-count treasonable felony charge preferred against him by the Federal Government.

Though the appellate court directed his release from detention, the Federal Government secured an order that stayed the execution of the judgement.

The Federal Government subsequently lodged an appeal at the Supreme Court to set aside the judgement.

Kanu had also through his team of lawyers led by Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, also filed an appeal to challenge his continued detention.
