Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to facilitate the release of a business woman, Aisha Achimugu on its bail conditions.
The judge gave order on Wednesday after he was informed that Achimugu’s previous bail to her lawyer was revoked by the Commission and fresh conditions were issued.
During the proceedings before the court, an attempt by Achimugu’s lawyer, Kehinde Oguwumiju (SAN) to seek for the variation of the terms of the bail was opposed by the prosecuting EFCC lawyer, Ekele Iheanacho (SAN) and rejected by the court while the request same was withdrawn.
Achimugu is being investigated by the Commission for alleged conspiracy, money laundering, obtaining under false pretence . corruption and possession of properties suspected to have been acquired through unlawful means
She was arrested on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 and brought before the court on Wednesday.
In his short ruling on the matter, Justice Ekwo said the Commission should expedite actions to ensure the processing of all bail conditions and directed all parties to report on compliance with the directive on Friday.
