The Chairman of Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Oyefolu Ojelabi , has commended the Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA in Lagos, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, for giving back to the society and fulfilling a convenant he willingly entered into with the people during his electioneering campaigns.
The Director of Public Affairs, Ifelodun LCDA, Olusegun Akinyemi, stated this in a statement he made available to TheIdeal News on Saturday
Speaking on the uniqueness of the empowerment, Ojelabi said, “ I could recollect vividly the promises that the Chairman made to the people before he was voted in such as providing portable water, good road networks, quality healthcare delivery system, quality education, human capital development, youth empowerment programmes and others.
“What I am seeing here today is a demonstration of dedicated leader who is willing to give back to the society. Let me use this medium to express my deepest appreciation to the Executive chairman of Ifelodun LCDA for deeming it necessary to reduce poverty by distributing items the people could use to make money for themselves with little reliance on others.
“With items such as Vulcanizing Machines, Make- up kits, Sewing Machines, Deep Freezers with Minerals, Tricycles, Mini – Buses, Stoning Machines, Cooking Gas Cylinders, beneficiaries can take good care of their families”.
A member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and a former Minister of Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, appealed to the people of Ifelodun LCDA to allow Okeowo to complete his second term , which is the tradition of the party in Lagos State, so that dividends of democracy could reach more peope of felodun LCDA.
The pioneer Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Taiwo Oyewole Adenekan, commended Hon. Okeowo for constantly pulling smiles on the faces of the people of Ifelodun LCDA either through Food Palliative,Solar -Powered street Lights, road construction, access to Health care, construction of Administrative building, Water Systems or Mega- empowerment Programmes
Yeye Ireti Oluwa said she is impressed with the reports so far being received from the people about the Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA.
In his own comment at the event, Okeowo stated that the current situation in the country demands compassionate leaders who will think more of the people than his personal gains.
The Ifelodun LCDA Chairman also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment items and refrain from selling the items they collected.
The former executive Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon Fatai Shuaib Ajidagba, called on the residents to cooperate fully with Okeowo in order for him to be able to fulfill the mandate of the party.
About 1,005 residents received food Palliative, 500 aged people received N10,000 each, 500 youths received N10,000 each, 200 young families received N10,000 each, 250 residents enjoyed free Medical services, with free drugs to care for their ailments.
Present at the occasion were the Olu Iwa of Apapa Kingdom, HRM Oba Morufudeen Oluwa, Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Hon . Jamiu Tolani Alli – Balogun, Executive Chairman of Ajeromi/Ifelodun LG Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, pioneer Chairman of Ajeromi/Ifelodun LG Dr. Abiola Ajijola, Commander, Signal Barracks Mile 2, Brigadier General Zipele Preye, Chairman Chieftaincy Committee of Ifelodun LCDA, Chief Lateef Olatunji and other Baales.
The Vice-Chairman Princess Adetoun Ojora-Adejiyan, Leader of the House Hon. Fatima Atinuke Salaudeen, Councillors, Members of the Executive, Council Manager Mr Azeez Saeed Abiodun, Council Treasurer, Mr Oluwayemisi Oluyinka Olusanya, other Management staff, NULGE Chairman, Comrade Dickson Bashua, youth leaders, the physically challenged and others also graced the event.
Items distributed and quantities include 6kg Gas cylinders 120, Artisans Tool Boxes 10, Baking Flour 10, Blood pressure Monitors 10, Cattle feeds 10, Sewing machines 60, Cover Button Machines 40, Deep Freezers 10, Fish feed 10, Gel Nail Dryers 20, Generators 20, Grinding Machine 30, Grinding Drilling Machine 10, Hair Straighteners 30, Hair Tonging. 30, Inner Weaving 20, Hair Clipper 25, Korope 4, Make up Kits 15, Minerals 100 packs, Noodles (80packs) 40.
Others include Pop Corn Machines 20,bPoultry Feeds 10, Salon Mask Hand dryer 25, Hair Washing Basin 20, Sterilizers 30, Stonning Machine 10, Tricycle (NAPEP) 4, Vulcanizer Machines 20, 20 Welding machines while 1,500 people enjoyed the monthly food Palliatives.
