The National Judicial Council (NJC) has denied the trendy story, claiming that the Council has fixed date for the swearing in of 11 new Justices of the Supreme Court (JSCs).

The NCJ’s Director of Information, Soji Oye, debunked the media report in a statement made available to TheIdeal News on Thursday.

He added that the information did not emanate from the NJC or its Chairman, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kayode Ariwoola, saying that the general public would be informed of the date for the swearing in of the new 11 JSCs.

The statement reads in part, “The attention of the NJC has been drawn to a trending story purportedly informing the public that the newly appointed 11 Supreme Court Justices would be sworn in on Monday 16 January 2023.

“The NJC, by this medium, expressly denies the news as it did not emanate from the Council or the Office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON.

“The date for the swearing in of the Justices will be made public at the appropriate time.Members of the public should please disregard the trending news”
