Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, maintained a positive outlook despite his team’s 1-0 loss to Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa. Kehinde Malik’s first-half strike secured victory for the home side, but Finidi commended his players for their resilience.
“We came here aiming for a win, but conceding early made things difficult. However, we fought hard in the second half and credit to Bayelsa for their disciplined defense,” Finidi remarked. Despite the setback, Rivers United remains in second place on the league table, demonstrating their strong season performance.
Meanwhile, Heartland FC’s head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, praised his team’s determination after a goalless draw against Sunshine Stars in Ijebu Ode. Following a 2-0 home loss to Abia Warriors, the Naze Millionaires displayed grit to bounce back.
“It was a tough match for both sides. We had our chances but couldn’t convert, and they did too. While we wanted all three points, securing a draw wasn’t a bad outcome,” Amuneke stated.
As the NPFL season heats up, teams continue to battle for top positions, with every match proving crucial in the race for league supremacy.
