Further details about the Queen’s funeral on Monday have been announced, including confirmation that she will be buried with the Duke of Edinburgh and that there will be a two-minute silence across the nation.
Her Majesty will be laid to rest with her late husband at the King George VI memorial chapel during a private service and burial on Monday evening.
This will follow her state funeral at Westminster Abbey, which begins at 11am.
The Queen has been lying in state at the nearby Westminster Hall since Wednesday, with thousands of members of the public queueing for hours to pay their respects.
This is what we know about what will happen on the day of the funeral itself.
Monday morning
The lying in state at Westminster Hall will conclude at 6.30am, with the doors closed in preparation for the funeral.
Shortly after 10.35am, the barers will lift the coffin and carry it in procession to the state gun carriage of the Royal Navy positioned outside the north door.
The gun carriage will then set off at 10.44am, with the route to the Abbey lined by members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. A tri-service guard of honour will take place on Parliament Square, accompanied by the band of the Royal Marines.
Following the Queen’s coffin will be the King, members of the Royal Family and members of his household.
The procession will arrive at 10.52am and the coffin will be carried into the Abbey for the service.
The doors to Westminster Abbey will have opened at 8.00am that morning to allow the general congregation to take their seats.
Invited heads of state and overseas government representatives, including foreign royal dignitaries, will travel collectively from Royal Hospital Chelsea to the Abbey.
The state funeral will conclude with a two-minute national silence.
In the afternoon
At just after midday, a procession will set off towards Wellington Arch, with members of the Royal Family walking on foot – and others following by car.
Big Ben will toll throughout this – and at 1pm the Queen’s coffin will be placed in the State Hearse at Wellington Arch.
This will arrive at Shaw Farm Gate in Windsor at 3.06pm – and a new procession will set off at 3.10pm with the King and other members of the Royal Family joining at 3.40pm.
At just before 4pm, the Queen’s coffin will be carried up the West Steps of St George’s Chapel.
The committal service will begin shortly afterwards.
Later, at around 7.30pm, a private burial will be conducted by the Dean of Windsor.
The Queen will be buried with her late husband at the King George VI Memorial Chapel.
