President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that there is no vacuum in his government, saying that whenever he is out of the country, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is in charge.

He added that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustspha and the Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari were also there to perform their duties.

Buhari spoke on Sunday while departing Abuja for his routine medical checkup in the United Kingdom (UK).

But the President did not disclose whether he has transmitted a letter to the National Assembly in line with section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), intimating the lawmakers that he will be outside Nigeria while Osinbajo will be in charge as Acting President.

Speaking to the State House correspondents before his departure at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Buhari said he has capable hands to run the affairs of the Federal Government in his absence.

He said, “Well, I cannot claim to be doing the work alone. The government is fully represented; the vice-president is there.

“Constitutionally, when I’m away, he’s in charge. And the secretary to the government and then the chief of staff. So, I have no problem.”
