Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, days after formally defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Mbah said their discussions centred on ways to deepen collaboration between the Enugu State Government and the Federal Government to enhance development.
“Today, I had the honour of meeting with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the State House, Abuja.
We discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between Enugu State and the Federal Government to deliver greater prosperity for our people.
Enugu remains fully committed to playing its part in building a stronger, united, and more prosperous Nigeria,” Mbah wrote.
Mbah officially dumped the PDP for the APC on October 14, during a press conference held in Enugu, the state capital.
He explained that his decision to join the ruling party was guided by his commitment to advancing Enugu’s interests and aligning the state’s development goals with federal policies.
Describing the move as “a strategic step for visionary partnership”, Mbah said it would help drive transformative change across Enugu State and Nigeria at large.
The governor, who was accompanied by his predecessor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, along with several state and federal lawmakers, emphasized that the defection was not taken lightly, but aimed at ensuring inclusive growth and better service delivery under the APC-led administration.
