The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has announced Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang winner of the Plateau North senatorial rerun.

Returning Officer of the senatorial rerun election Prof. Nestor Chogok declared the results early on Monday morning, stating that ADP candidate Dachungyang received 122,442 votes, defeating the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) Yakub Muhammad Safiu, who received 53,980 votes.

Gyang Zi of the LP scored 33,243 votes, while Christopher Musa Giwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scored 39,132.

All six local government areas in the constituency, Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Jos South, Jos East, Riyom, and Jos North were won by the ADP.

“Having scored the highest valid votes and having satisfied the conditions of the law, Mr. Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang is hereby returned elected,” Chogok said.

The results of the rerun election held last Saturday and Sunday in the House of Representatives seat for the Bassa/Jos-North Federal Constituency indicate that Daniel Asama of the Labour Party (LP) has emerged victorious.

Returning Officer Prof. James Damen announced the results, declaring Asama the victor with 66,422 votes, defeating his nearest opponent, Peoples Redemption Party’s Mohammed Gwani, who received 61,670 votes.

Mr. Ibrahim Baba Hassan of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to him, received 10,063 votes and was placed in third place.

“Having scored the highest valid votes cast and having satisfied the requirements of the law, Mr Daniel Asama is hereby declared winner of the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency re-run election and is returned elected,” Damen said.

The returning officer declared that Asama had won in the state’s Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) and Alkali had won in Jos North LGA.

Recall that last year, the Court of Appeal in Abuja nullified the election victory of Peoples Democratic Party’s Musa Agah and Sen. Simon Mwadkon, and other federal and state lawmakers under the PDP and ordered a rerun election within 90 days.

The Appellate court in its judgment excluded the PDP from participating in the re-run elections.
