Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Mojisola Meranda, has disclosed that the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Remi Tinubu, played a significant role in shaping her political journey.

Speaking at the Lagos Assembly complex on Friday, Meranda said Oluremi’s mentorship and constant advice had played a significant role in her success in politics.

NAN also quoted Meranda as praising Mrs Tinubu for her commitment to empowering women and her efforts to support the vulnerable.

Meranda said. “She has remained a mentor to me and many other women who are playing positive roles in Lagos and across the country.

“She constantly leads the way for us all and shows how women can become role models in society.

“I am proud that she is our role model and I want to thank her on behalf of Nigerians for all that she does for the people reaching the downtrodden, the challenged and needy.

“I want to thank her for all that she has done for the different states.”

Stella Osafile, a lawmaker representing Amuwo-Odofin 1, also commended Mrs Tinubu for her role in encouraging women to participate in the #EveryHomeAGarden competition, an initiative aimed at promoting food sufficiency.

It is instructive to note that Meranda was elected as the speaker of the Lagos Assembly in January, following the removal of Mudashiru Obasa.
