Armed robbers have raided a popular hotel in Gwarimpa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, The Volcano Hotel.
The robbery attack, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, also led to the death of a Disk Jockey (DJ, who was shot during the incident.
The DJ was said to have died at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja, where he was rushed to.
It was also gathered that some guests were subjected to the harrowing experience of being robbed of their valuables and personal belongings.
A resident in the area who witnessed the incident and simply identified as Sani, said the incident had caused panic in the area as incidents of armed robbery have become rampant.
He said, ” In the early hours of Saturday, some armed robbers attacked the Volcano Hotel Gwarimpa. They robbed some guests in the hotel and took away their belongings. The money and phones of the guests were also stolen.
“A DJ was shot. He died at the hospital in Jabi. We have been experiencing a series of armed robbery incidents in Gwarimpa recently, and this particular one has heightened fears among residents.
“Incidentally, there is a police station not far from the place of robbery attack.
Attempts to get the reaction of the hotel’s management were unsuccessful as calls made to the phone number listed on its website went unanswered at press time.
