The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has urged the general public to disregard reports of  a fake quiz competition trending online which claims to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

In a statement made available on Tuesday by its group general manager, public affairs division, Garba Deen Muhammad, the NNPC said the quiz competition rumour is untrue.

Muhammad also stated that some blogs and social media accounts in the purported quiz contest are asking unsuspecting participants to answer four questions on their knowledge of the NNPC while the eventual winner stand  the chance of winning some cash reward of up to N30,000.

He therefore called on Nigerians to disregard the report in its entirety.

The statement reads in part, “The purported quiz contest, unsuspecting participants are encouraged to answer four questions on their knowledge of the Corporation, with the eventual winner standing the chance of winning some cash reward of up to N30,000.

“The NNPC wishes to state categorically that it has nothing to do with the purported 50th anniversary quiz contest”.
