Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Hon Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya (Walin Sokoto), has submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) office, thus signifying his desire to succeed his boss, Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
Speaking at the PDP’s office before submitting his forms, Dan Iya admitted that his boss, Governor Tambuwal, is a political colossus in the nation’s polity, saying that Tambuwal has done well by initiating meaningful development in the State.
Dan Iya, who thanked Tambuwal for providing the needed level playing ground for all aspirants seeking to contest elective positions in the state, also appealed to Nigerians to support Tambuwal’s presidential ambition in 2023.
The Deputy Governor also stated that Tambuwal is one politician that is not only concerned about one indivisible Nigeria, but even development for all.
He said, “Alhamdulillah. Today is a very historic day. As I submit my forms today, credit goes to my party, the PDP and even higher credit to my Principal, Governor Tambuwal, the ‘People’s Governor’, because without his political acumen in providing equal opportunity for party members, we couldn’t have trooped out to purchase forms to contest for various positions at various levels
“From the day I declared my interest to contest for governor to date, I have seen and received a lot of goodwill messages, support and above all, prayers from the public from within and outside the state”.
Declaring that he will continue with Tambuwal’s legacies should he emerge the standard governorship flag bearer of PDP, Dan Iya appealed to his teeming supporters across all the 23 Local Government areas in Sokoto State and by extension, across the country to be law abiding.
