Three suspected political thugs who raided polling units in Benue State have been reportedly shot dead by soldiers.
The incident was said to have happened around the Gboko South local government in Benue State in the early house of Saturday.
It was gathered that the hoodlums invaded polling units 026 and 004, Gboko South while electoral processes were ongoing and attempted to snatch ballot boxes and the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, BVAS.
According to an eyewitness, Moses Agure-Dam who confirmed the development, the thugs were gunned down by soldiers who swung into action after the thugs try to make away with election materials.
“The thugs invaded the polling units and disrupted the election. They were three in number, one snatched the BVAS while others snatched ballot boxes but they didn’t succeed. They were all shot dead instantly by the soldiers in the area”.
As at press time, there has been no official statement by either the Benue State Police Command or the Nigeria Army.
