Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has called on the organizers of planned protests to suspend demonstrations and submit their demands to him, saying that he will personally deliver them to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

The Kano Governor gave the advice on Wednesday while delivering an address at a meeting with Traditional rulers and the Kano business community at the Government House in Kano.

He said, “I will mobilize a special delegation from the state comprising Traditional rulers, Businessmen, Ulamas and your representatives to deliver your demands to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.”

Governor Yusuf explained that he is not against peaceful protest because it is enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as a democratic right of the citizens.

But said he is against violence, mob action and looting by hoodlums in the name of protest and advised Kano citizens against the infamous action.

He stated that people are facing hardship in the country and advised that leaders should not push the people to the wall lest they push back.

He said his administration has introduced numerous interventions to cushion the economic hardship, adding that, more measures will be unveiled to turn around the economy and create jobs especially for youths and women in the state.

Governor Yusuf also called on the business community to help intervene in the current economic challenges by reducing prices of commodities and investing in the state.

He further announced plans to establish an agency on price control in the state.

He said, “Will do so through the collaboration with the business community for the benefits of the people of state”.

In his reaction to the planned protests, the Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, urged the youths to desist from the proposed action, saying the protest is planned by faceless individuals.

He further called on political parties to nominate credible and God fearing personalities as candidates for the forthcoming local governments elections.

According to the Emir, the society will get it right when the right leaders are elected into positions of authority.
