Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin has been conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title “Yeye Akeweje Ilaje” by High Chief Kayode Aiyetiwa, the Oba of Bariga, in Lagos, Nigeria.
After winning the WAFCON, President Tinubu has promised the Super Falcons $100,000, a 3-bedroom apartment, and a national honor.

This honor comes after Nigeria’s performance at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Super Falcons secured their 10th title with a 3-2 comeback win against Morocco in the final.
Demehin’s traditional title the “Yeye Akeweje Ilaje” celebrates her potential as a leader and inspirer within the Ilaje community.
They are a coastal group of Yoruba people known for their rich cultural heritage and fishing expertise.
This chieftaincy title comes after President Bola Tinubu had rewarded each member of the Super Falcons with $100,000 and national honors.
She posted photos and videos of the chieftaincy ceremony on her official social media platforms.
Along with the photos was a message that said, “With deep gratitude and a heart full of pride, I’m deeply honored to share that I have been officially conferred with the prestigious title of YEYE AKEWEJE ILAJE by His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Bariga 👑 Royal Majesty“ KAYODE AIYETIWA “

Since her debut in 2022, Demehin played a crucial role in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.
Demehin was recently rewarded by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa with 30 million naira and a house at Sunshine Estate, Oba-Ile, Akure, for her contribution to the WAFCON victory.
